The course helped me a lot. Thank you for everythingPosted on I UTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently attended a counselling program facilitated by Shilpi Sharma and it was a really positive experience. The sessions were helpful, informative, and engaging throughout. I would definitely recommend this program to others.Posted on Y QTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Through this incident, I truly witnessed your profound strength in psychological counseling. I’ve been deeply inspired—this goes beyond gratitude, it’s genuine admiration.Posted on TTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came to therapy on my own because my partner was not ready to join me, and I felt really stuck and unsure about what to do next. I was looking for clarity, support, and a bit of direction and am so glad I found Shilpi. Instead of couples therapy, I chose individual counselling for relationship issues. From the very first session, I felt heard, understood, and never judged. I could speak openly about things I had never been able to express to anyone else. Each session helped me see my situation more clearly and understand myself better. I did not expect it to be this helpful, but it has made a huge difference in how I think, react, and communicate. Change takes time, and I have been seeing her for the past 7 months. I know I still have work to do, but now I feel like I am moving forward instead of going in circles. I am truly grateful for the patience, guidance, and gentle support I have received. I would definitely recommend Shilpi to anyone needing clarity, support, and professional guidance. Starting therapy with her has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself.Posted on NTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am genuinely surprised by how much I have learned from this men’s behaviour change course. It taught me things I wish I had known years ago. Honestly, I think this should be taught in schools. It helped me understand myself better, improve the way I communicate, and take responsibility for my actions. I would recommend this course to anyone who is serious about personal growth and becoming a better version of themselves.Posted on K VTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
The “therapeutic fit” is the biggest predictor of success. I suggest we have a brief initial conversation to see if you feel heard and comfortable. Most clients know within 3–4 sessions if our connection feels supportive and productive.
What should I expect in our first session?
It’s normal to feel nervous. We’ll start by discussing what’s happening in your life and what you hope to achieve. I’ll explain my approach and we can decide together on the best way forward.
Do I need a GP referral to see you?
No, you do not need a referral from a doctor to book a session with a Registered Counsellor in Australia. You can reach out directly to begin your journey.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients find clarity in 3–6 goal-focused sessions, while others choose longer-term support for deeper exploration. We will regularly review our progress together.
What is the difference between a Counsellor and a Psychologist?
In Australia, both Registered Counsellors and Psychologists are trained to provide evidence-based therapy for issues such as anxiety, stress, anger management, behaviour change, and relationship counselling. While counsellors do not currently provide Medicare rebates, our fees are generally equal to or lower than the “gap fee” a client would pay to see a psychologist.
Counsellors typically work with a holistic focus, supporting clients who do not require a formal mental health diagnosis for medical treatment. Ultimately, research shows that the success of any treatment depends heavily on the therapeutic relationship between the client and the provider. My goal is to build that trusted connection while using evidence-based modalities to help you achieve lasting change.
Are your "Court-recognised" certificates guaranteed?
I provide professional certificates of completion for our Anger Management, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, and Abridged Men’s Behaviour Change programs. These courses were developed by a highly senior counsellor with extensive expertise in the field. To date, we have issued over 1,500 certificates that have been accepted by courts across Australia. While our programs are trusted by lawyers and legal experts nationwide, I always recommend confirming with your legal representative to ensure the specific course meets your unique court order requirements.
Is my information kept private and confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of professional therapy. As a member of the ACA, I follow a strict Code of Ethics. Information is only disclosed if there is a significant risk of harm or if required by a court subpoena.
What if I can't make it to my session?
I understand that life happens. Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations to avoid any cancellation fees and allow that time to be offered to someone else who may need it.
Can I choose between online and face-to-face sessions?
Yes. I offer face-to-face sessions at my Derrimut clinic (serving Melbourne’s West) and secure telehealth (video or phone) consultations for clients Australia-wide. Both formats offer the same level of care and professional standards.
